Grade UE06: £34,132 - £39,355 per annum
CSG / Finance Department / Financial Information, Reporting & Strategy Team (FIRST)
Full-time: 35 hours per week
Fixed-term: 15 months (maternity cover)
We are recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant on a fixed term basis to cover a period of maternity leave. The role is based primarily within the capital accounting section of FIRST. The role will work to ensure that capital transactions are correctly processed, recorded and accounted for within the finance system, through to supporting the preparation of year end working schedules and external audit.
The Opportunity
In this role you will be;
- Preparing account and ledger reconciliations and actively resolving issues identified
- Processing journals and cost loaders
- Supporting the month end accounting processes
- Ensuring the correct accounting of capital transactions in line with University policy, relevant Accounting Standards and the statements of recommended accounting practice (SORPs)
- Supporting the preparation of year end working papers, notes to the financial statements and related audit queries
The successful candidate will;
- Have a high level of numeracy with excellent attention to detail and the ability to present financial information clearly
- Experience of working in a finance team
- Experience of working to a strict month end close timetable
- Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Be highly self-motivated and thrive in constantly changing environments
