We are looking for an outstanding
Chef Manager who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.
You’ll be working 37.5 hours a week at Cygnet Hospital Harrow, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.
Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Job Purpose
To organise and control the efficient and economic production of quality food within the allowed budget, whilst ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
Main Responsibilities
- Comply with relevant Cygnet Health Care policy, procedure and standards, and local protocol to ensure safe and effective functioning of the department and hospital as a whole.
- Provide meals for patients, staff and visitors to the agreed quality standards of the department.
- Supervise the work of staff employed in the department, including maintaining rotas, records of hours worked, staff absences, training & inductions and disciplinaries
- Liaise with the senior management team in regards to setting budgets & ensuring they are aware of any potential risks to health from kitchen/Food preparation
- Ensure the highest quality of food provision maximising and proving access to ‘Organic’ and sustainable goods.
- Liaise with nursing colleagues to ensure the nutritional needs of all patients are met & seek professional dietetic advice in respect of patients with special needs not met by the routine catering service of the hospital
- Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment & chemicals in accordance with procedures
- Train own and Hospital staff in Food Hygiene and relevant areas as requested and skilled in.
- Work with the Therapy manager in respect of Therapy area kitchens cleanliness and service provision standard
- Rotate/Re-design with dietician input menu on a 3 monthly basis in consultation with all interested parties.

You are…
- A skilled Chef who can work under pressure
- Holds a City & Guilds 706 – 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
- Preferably experienced in the care sector
- Able to plan nourishing & attractive menus within available budgets
- The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards
- Polite & professional, with a positive attitude to internal & external quests at all times
- An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels
- Able to work under your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision
