WRc are seeking a technically driven and solutions-oriented
Consultant Process Engineer with experience in seawater desalination and wastewater reuse to join our Desalination and Water Reuse team within our Water Science directorate at WRc.
This is a
full-time, permanent,
hybrid role which provides an opportunity to combine working at our office / laboratory / test facilities in Swindon, visiting client sites / offices (in the UK and overseas) and working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to feasibility studies and concept-level designs for desalination and wastewater reuse projects, including hybrid and advanced membrane systems (e.g., SWRO, BWRO, MBR, tertiary treatment).
- Perform process modelling and evaluations using tools such as WAVE, IMSDesign, and similar membrane design software to support early-stage concept development and decision-making.
- Identify and refine technical solutions to optimise water and wastewater treatment processes, improving efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
- Engage with academics and industry specialists in the related topics to stay at the forefront of innovation and share insights internally and with clients.
- Support development of the team’s technical strategy and contribute to the identification of new services, tools, or markets in collaboration with senior leadership.
Person Specification:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
- Previous proven experience in water or wastewater treatment, with significant exposure to desalination and/or reuse technologies.
- Understanding of membrane-based treatment processes, water chemistry, and brine/waste management options.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly in reports and presentations.
- Inquisitive, keen to understand the needs of our customers, and motivated to proactively develop innovative ideas and solutions.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work effectively in remote and collaborative team environments.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary from £35,000 depending on experience
