Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to manage a dynamic team within the rail buildings asset management framework. This role involves overseeing minor works across the North West & Central rail routes, focusing on the maintenance and repair of various rail building assets.
Business Unit: Join a busy environment dedicated to rail maintenance and asset management, handling high-volume, low-value projects—both reactive and planned. The primary focus is on maintaining and repairing rail assets under a long-term framework/contract, which includes but is not limited to assets and infrastructure such as:
- Bridges & footbridges
- Tunnels
- Structures
- Station infrastructure and facilities
- Embankments
- Flood and weather damage repairs
- Signage
- Vegetation management
- Fencing and handrails
Key Responsibilities:
The Contracts Manager / Framework Manager responsible for Buildings Asset Management Contracts Manager will cover Buildings Faults and Minor / Emerging Works (MEW) portfolio with day to day responsibility including:
- Operational Management: Oversee the Buildings Asset Management Framework for Network Rail, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Client Liaison: Maintain strong relationships with client representatives and participate in regular framework progress, design coordination, and commercial meetings.
- Programme and Commercial Planning: Ensure successful delivery of the framework, maintaining quality, schedule, budget, and profit margins while ensuring client satisfaction from project start to completion.
- Project Controls: Monitor project performance against budgets, manage scope changes, and ensure timely change orders and early warning notifications.
- Reporting and Analysis: Produce and evaluate progress reports, update cost forecasts, and coordinate monthly review meetings with project teams.
- Risk Management: Implement comprehensive risk management processes to identify and mitigate potential issues proactively.
- Safety Management: Take accountability for all safety, health, environmental, and quality aspects within the framework.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven track record in framework or contract management within civil engineering / buildings infrastructure maintenance sectors.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of contracting processes, technical construction specifications, and budget management.
- Relationship Building: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Educational Background: Relevant qualifications in civil engineering or related fields.
- Industry Experience: Essential experience in civils and building maintenance frameworks, with a solid understanding of NEC or bespoke Network Rail contract forms.
