Navantia UK is expanding its operations in Methil and we are looking for an experienced Crane Operator to support safe and efficient material movement across our busy fabrication and shipbuilding site. If you take pride in precision, safety and teamwork, we’d like to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Crane Operator at our Methil yard, you will operate a range of cranes, lifts and hoists to support daily production needs. You’ll complete equipment inspections, carry out routine maintenance, follow lifting plans, and maintain clear communication with ground personnel. Your role is essential in ensuring safe, accurate and efficient movement of materials across the site.
What You’ll Do
Safely operate cranes, lifts and hoists in line with daily instructions and lifting plans.
Select and set up the correct equipment for each task to ensure safe lifting operations.
Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
Maintain clear radio and visual contact with ground operators at all times.
Follow site and project manager instructions, completing tasks on time with minimal supervision.
Keep accurate logs of lifting and material-handling activities.
Ensure all travel routes are clear and report any issues to the supervisor.
Work on-site in a busy, noisy environment while adhering to all Navantia UK safety procedures.
Essential Requirements
Luffing Jib Certificate
Tower Crane Certificate
Strong commitment to following safety protocols and lifting procedures.
Desirable
Experience working in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment.
Key Skills & Behaviours
Excellent coordination, concentration and situational awareness.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
