The Kelly Group are seeking experienced and motivated Network Operatives to work on the DNO (Distribution Network Operator) contract on behalf of Openreach. This role involves the transfer of Openreach equipment — including copper and fibre cables and associated infrastructure — from joint user poles (JUP) on the DNO’s old infrastructure to newly installed poles.
The position will involve a combination of overhead and underground work using ladders and/or hoists. Some transfers may require cable replacement to customer properties, so a flexible and solution-driven approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Transfer Openreach equipment (copper and fibre) from old to new poles
- Install and maintain associated telecoms infrastructure and hardware
- Perform overhead work using ladders and hoists safely and efficiently
- Conduct underground cabling and jointing as required
- Replace or reroute cables to customer premises when needed
- Adhere to all health & safety regulations and quality standards
- Work collaboratively within a team and liaise with other contractors on-site
- Travel to sites across the UK, with primary focus on the South/Southeast
Ideal Candidate
- Experienced in D-Side copper jointing and fibre installation
- Accredited and trained in fibre and copper cable handling
- Comfortable working at height and with overhead equipment
- Possesses a strong understanding of telecoms infrastructure and safety practices
- Willing to work away from home when required
- Holds a full UK manual driving for a minimum of 1 year (no more than 6 points, no driving bans within the past 5 years)
- Relevant accreditations (e.g. NRSWA, Openreach accreditations, Hoist/MEWP licences) are highly desirable
