Location: Flexible working with visits to our office in Wimbledon as and when required.

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent.

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and progressive compliance professional to with a strategic mindset to join the Group Risk & Compliance team as Group Director of Compliance.


The role holder is responsible for group wide leadership of the Compliance function. An integral member of the Group Risk & Compliance leadership team, the Director of Compliance will help shape compliance and risk strategies and polices through business partnership, driving a risk and compliance aware culture. They will be a member of several Committees including the Group Risk & Compliance Leadership Team, the Group Extended Leadership Team, the UK Customer Conduct Standards Committee, and the Enterprise Resilience Committee.


This is a newly created role, reporting to the Group Chief Risk Officer and with significant exposure to the wider Executive Leadership Team. This is a certified role under the UK SMCR regime.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Leadership of the Group Compliance and Financial Crime functions, with responsibility for ensuring D&G meets the legal and regulatory requirements in all markets it operates in.
  • Development of Group Compliance policies to ensure they evolve in line with business growth and regulatory and legal demands.
  • Delivery of responsibilities required by regimes such as SMCR and equivalent, approaches and methodologies for countering financial crime, and maintenance of the Whistleblowing program and Conflicts of Interest frameworks.
  • Proactive monitoring and analysis of emerging legislation and regulation that could impact the D&G Group, advising leadership on compliance strategies and potential operational adjustments.
  • Develops and oversees D&G’s group compliance program, compliance monitoring and compliance advisory offering, ensuring it meets legal and regulatory requirements in all markets in which D&G operates
  • Provision of high-quality compliance information, analysis and reporting and training provided to the DGLG, Group Risk Committee, Board Audit & Risk Committees, Boards and business teams
  • Provides oversight and validation of Domestic & General’s external compliance reporting in conjunction with regional teams.




Skills And Experience Required:



  • Leadership of the Compliance function within a company with similar complexities and geographical reach within the financial services sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, applicable at all levels across the organisation. Adept at building internal and external networks, with proven experience of delivering through people by collaborating and leveraging relationships
  • Strong technical compliance management skills relevant to the D&G business
  • Establishing a best-in-class 2nd line compliance and financial crime capability within business undergoing significant growth and transformation.
  • Deep understanding of industry-wide trends and strategies for mitigating them, along with demonstrable knowledge of regulatory requirements and initiatives.
  • A record of accomplishment of formulating and offering creative and pragmatic solutions to problems and issues.
  • The ability to engage and influence at Executive and Board level and build relationships across diverse business functions in particular initiating and sustaining constructive relationships with senior stakeholders across expanding international businesses
