About the Role:
The Head of Management Accounting and Reporting will play a central role in leading the management accounting and financial reporting function for the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). You will ensure the delivery of robust, timely, and transparent financial performance reporting, enabling strategic and operational decision-making across all business areas. This role offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on how financial information is used to drive value and improve service delivery across one of the largest police forces in the UK.
Reporting to the Director of Financial Management, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance reporting function and ensuring the alignment of financial practices with the MPS’s strategic objectives. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to present clear, actionable financial narratives and support long-term financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
The Ideal Candidate:
You will be a fully qualified accountant (e.g., CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent) with a strong background in financial reporting and management accounting. You will bring experience in leading financial teams, ensuring consistent delivery of financial performance insights and reports. Your communication skills will be exceptional, with the ability to present financial matters clearly to senior non-financial audiences. You will have experience in managing complex financial reporting processes and be able to drive continuous improvement and standardisation across financial practices.
