We have around 250,000 residents in more than 105,000 homes across London, the South East and North West of England. We are the Principal Accountable Person for over 220 Higher Risk Buildings.
We are now seeking an experienced Head of Strategic Building Safety professional to join us and lead our strategic building safety team . This role and the team you will lead are vital in making sure that L&Q meets it’s various obligations and duties, which arose from the Building Safety Act (BSA) and associated secondary legislation, as it relating to the L&Q Group portfolio.
Alongside Developing, maintaining, updating and improving policies and other arrangements, underpinned by L&Q’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMS) and Fire Risk Management System (FRMS) with the aim of ensuring that the organisation can demonstrate that it is fulfilling all of its legal / regulatory requirements. You and your team will provide the second line of defence service by overseeing the operational delivery of services required to meet the statutory duties.
You will maintain standards and policy around Building Safety duty holder responsibilities and liaising with and being the primary point of contact with the Building Safety Regulator.
You will have a passion for building safety and will echo the organisational culture to getting it right, managing risk, to ensure that L&Q are delivering on it’s obligations.
This key role will provide strategic building safety leadership across our organisation, whilst actively focussing on building trust and increasing the satisfaction of our residents. You will also be confident in building strong stakeholder relationships, as the key contact for the Building Safety Regulator, and MHCLG
The successful candidate must also have a good understanding, ideally with experience, of the Accountable Persons and Building Safety Manager roles. Being a champion for the resident voice they will ensure our strategies have at the heart the need for strong engagement with customers on matters relating to building safety.
The Successful Candidate Will Be Required To Have
- CIOB level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management or be working towards achieving it.
- Degree level education or equivalent in the relevant field or membership with a relevant professional body (such as IOSH, IFE, RICS, CIOB) or similar membership body with relation to the built environment and building safety would be equally adequate.
- Demonstrable relevant building safety experience gained within a multi-site, housing sector environment
- Manage and develop a team, creating an overarching, robust strategy with the foresight to innovate.
- Experience of managing a range of stakeholders and working at a senior management level to achieve results and developing positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, residents and regulatory bodies
- Positive and collaborative approach to service delivery, providing excellence in customer service in line with L&Q’s values
- Financial and commercial acumen
- Experience in demonstrating effective strategic oversight
- Excellent written and verbal communications and influencing skills, with demonstrable experience delivering building safety training
- Able to disseminate complex information in simple terms
- Analytical approach to work with strong organisational skills
- Membership with IFSM, IFPO or IFE
