An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
Ethics Investigator to join the team on a permanent basis.
You will report to the Head of Ethics Investigations (UK) and will be responsible for conducting investigations into alleged breaches of National Grid’s Code of Ethics, HR disciplinary, grievances and other sensitive investigations across the business. You’ll be expected to conduct a variety of investigations adopting a systematic and thorough approach, ensuring lessons learned are identified and investigation recommendations are tracked and reported on. Adopting an empathetic and considerate approach is fundamental to success in the role.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
- Responsible for conducting efficient and effective case investigations relating to alleged breaches of National Grid’s Code of Ethics, fraud, grievances and other matters.
- Support in developing the investigative capability within the organisation, ensuring a common standard is in place across all business areas.
- Participate in a cross-functional triage processes, designed to support effective decision making on investigative matters.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert, acting as a point of advice and support ensuring consistency on investigations.
- Design and delivery of Investigation training across all levels of the business if and when required.
- Design and development of management information and KPIs relating to investigations, controls and recommendations.
- Proactively build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers and stakeholders to drive maximum and mutual benefit to National Grid.
- Participation in internal and external committees and groups.
- Identify and recommend process changes to improve our response on ethics matters.
- Proactive maintenance and management of data, documents and systems that support the investigations process
- Support reporting of controls to support our Sox processes.
What You'll Have
- General understanding of Code of Ethic policies, compliance related policies and procedures and other relevant legislation including GDPR, and controls
- Ability to exercise sound and balanced judgement in handling complex issues in a sensitive and high-profile environment
- Organisational and planning skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight timescales and manage competing work priorities
- Proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and calmly at all levels across the business.
- Experience working with external stakeholders such as legal panel firms
- Experience in investigations, audit or another similar role.
- A blend of law enforcement and corporate investigations experience is desirable.
- Possess the credibility and sensitivity required to conduct confidential and sensitive investigations as appropriate.
- Maintain the highest level of ethical, legal and professional behaviour and standards.
- Analytical skills, including the ability to identify and interpret relevant legislation, regulations or procedural requirements to appropriately apply them to the matter under investigation
- Written and oral communication skills, with the ability to capture all important facts and opinions to enable the drafting of detailed reports

What You'll Get
A competitive salary– £52,000 to £61,000 DOE
