Role Summary
The Marine Sales Engineer plays a key role in expanding their marine business, focusing on new shipbuilding projects.
Based in Glasgow and requiring frequent international travel, the role involves direct engagement with global shipowners, operators, shipyards, and design consultants to promote the companies marine electrical and automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and expand their presence in new shipbuilding projects globally
- Promote their marine technologies to shipowners, shipyards, designers, and technical consultants
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with shipowners, operators, fleet managers, and shipyards
- Lead technical negotiations with shipowners and ensure alignment with factory proposals
- Prepare and submit budget quotations in coordination with factory engineering and sales teams
- Liaise with classification societies (e.g. DNV-GL, LR) to support technical discussions and compliance
- Represent the company at marine exhibitions, including coordinating activities at SMM Hamburg
- Support visits from clients and company representatives across Europe
- Promote their offerings such as retrofit projects, environmental systems, and lifecycle services
- Monitor and report on market trends and activities relevant to group companies and strategic planning
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical understanding of marine electrical systems
- Previous experience in marine or shipbuilding sectors preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and internal engagement
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and support complex proposals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard business applications
- Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis.
