This Operational Lead role sits within Provide CIC’s Community Partnerships division and involves the professional and clinical leadership, line management and development of an established acute Speech and Language Therapy team (comprising general medical, head & neck, stroke and voice services), ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient services at Broomfield Hospital.
The Post Holder Will Also Be Responsible For
- Working closely with senior leadership in MSEFT and Provide CIC to safeguard the interests of the service and to increase profile and influence within the hospital.
- Devising and implementing service strategies, including workforce strategies to manage the increasing demand for acute services.
- Maintaining high quality, patient-focused care for the service.
- Achieving and maintaining quality care through the delivery of evidenced based/ research-based practice.
- Ensuring that good governance for the service is embedded.
- The implementation of audits to help underpin and drive service improvement.
- Managing the Provide budget for the Acute SLT service.
- Maintaining a degree of clinical input at an expert level.
- Working full-time or contributing to the role as part of an approved job share
- Monitor national and local guidance relating to acute services and participate in the review of local policies ensuring consistency with national directors and local frameworks.
- Oversee the service in line with agreed financial and quality objectives.
- Ensure that all targets are communicated, understood and achievable.
- Develop a performance management framework and provide support to colleagues to meet required standards.
- Develop an agreed data set to satisfy the needs of activity and quality reporting and facilitate clinical review/audit of care.
- Analyse monthly activity and produce performance reports
- Deputise for the Divisional Operational Lead and provide cross-cover for the Operational Lead for Community SLT as needed.
- Work with clinical and non-clinical colleagues internally and externally to develop the service in line with the wider system strategy.
- Hold responsibility for either delegating complaint investigations or undertaking investigation of complaints, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to resolve/address deficiencies in service provision.
- Manage workforce via staff rostering, sickness/absence reporting, recruitment and selection etc.
- Build a working environment that attracts new and diverse colleagues into the team and contributes to retaining them.
