What will you be doing?

As a Plant performance engineer, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the technical assessment and optimisation of energy systems within a high-profile nuclear programme. This role blends performance modelling, cost analysis, and systems engineering to ensure the next generation of low-carbon energy solutions are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Perform thermodynamic modelling and energy performance analysis of complex nuclear systems
• Support (Levelised Cost of Energy) calculations and carbon accounting
• Contribute to requirements management using tools like IBM DOORS
• Engage in system-level design integration and energy optimisation
• Collaborate with engineering, regulatory, and environmental teams to support decision-making across the lifecycle

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for analytical, systems-focused engineers with a passion for energy innovation and a strong grounding in thermodynamics or energy systems. Ideally, you’ll bring experience from nuclear, power generation, or similarly regulated sectors.

Experience, skills and qualifications required:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Energy Systems, Physics, or a similar field
• Strong technical foundation in thermodynamics, fluid systems, or industrial energy applications
• Familiarity with IBM DOORS or other requirements management tools
• Knowledge of nuclear safety principles and design compliance is desirable
