🔐 Overview
A major UK organisation is looking for a Security Engineering Lead to drive the strategy, technical direction, and day-to-day effectiveness of its protective security tooling, including Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, Purview, and DLP.
You'll be accountable for owning and evolving these capabilities end-to-end: from setting the roadmap to leading incident response and mentoring the engineering team. This is a blended leadership role, combining hands-on security engineering with product ownership responsibilities.
💼 What You’ll Do
- Set and evolve the roadmap and strategy for key security tools (e.g. Defender, CrowdStrike, DLP).
- Act as the technical lead during incidents, making decisions, coordinating response, and driving the resolution.
- Work closely with stakeholders across security, engineering, and leadership to ensure tools are aligned to risk and business needs.
- Delegate effectively and support the upskilling of engineers through coaching, task ownership, and exposure to new tools.
- Continuously evaluate and improve security configurations (e.g. GPOs, policies, cloud controls) to ensure a robust and frictionless protective posture.
🛠️ What You’ll Need
- A strong background in cybersecurity engineering, ideally with experience leading or mentoring teams.
- Hands-on expertise in configuring and managing tools like Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike, and Purview/DLP.
- Familiarity with Microsoft security stack, Group Policy Objects, and cloud security principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interface confidently with both engineers and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset, calm under pressure and capable of owning decisions in high-stakes scenarios.
