We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Operational Risk Coverage Platform lead to join our Operational Risk Team. This role is part of the global, Operational Risk Coverage team and is located in London, England (4-5 days / week in office).
This second line of defense role will lead a team covering several of the firm’s platforms. The employee will work closely with the global operational risk team, specifically the other operational risk coverage platform leads to drive consistency in managing and enhancing our second line operational risk management and challenge capabilities. The Operational Risk Coverage team works closely with stakeholders throughout the firm (all lines of defense) to independently oversee BNY’s operational risk profile and control environment. A successful candidate is an experienced risk manager, relationship oriented with a change agent mindset.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Drive informed risk management decision making and practices across the firm by providing insights and transparency into the firm’s operational risk profile.
- Engage with first line of defense colleagues to identify risk areas, concerns, patterns and trends.
- Enhance second line of defense’s ability to monitor business line’s operational risk profile using data analytics and tools including operational risk programs, incident and risk exposure data.
- Drive consistent and effective risk challenge and oversight practices across the ORO team.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Extensive work experience in a global, financial or professional services firm.
- Prior operational risk experience, required (first or second line of defense).
- Global risk management experience required.
- Prior experience managing a global team of people, with ability to manage multiple deliverables and competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues across all lines of defense.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues and present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and data analytics skills.
- Ability to learn, assimilate new information quickly and adjust to a changing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a focus in business, finance, or related discipline are preferred. Relevant industry qualifications are an advantage.
