We’re taking Render global so that more companies, from high-street banks to other fintechs, can offer affordable credit to their customers.
About The Team
We are a successful underwriting team, going from strength to strength helping to lead the business in a time of rapid growth. We are looking for a Senior Underwriter to expand our team; someone who is adaptable, diligent, and keen to develop themselves further.
We pride ourselves on bringing affordable lending to the market whilst making the right decisions based on the customer spending rather than their credit reports.
In this position, you will be relied on to set an example to the team, produce great quality decisions, and provide improvement feedback on the systems and processes in use. Support your Team leader in managing the team via training new starters, picking up duties in times of absence, and queue management. Work towards target and do what is needed to reach our goals.
We champion lateral communication with different departments to bolster individual expertise, knowledge growth, and collaborative support where you can apply your experience and skill set to help develop and improve aspects of the business and yourself.
This role comes with the opportunities to progress into a Team Leader position and the opportunity to underwrite a range of credit products.
How We Work
- Shift patterns Monday to Thursday, covering 8am to 8pm.
- Friday 8am to 6pm coverage
- One Saturday per month - 9 am - 6pm returned as time in lieu
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the Team Lead in times of absence
- Shape the processes and procedures, always striving for improvements
- Understanding the importance of our targets and motivated for results
- Delivering high-quality work and setting an example
- Decision unsecured personal loan applications using our cutting-edge credit decision technology
- Carry out an in-depth analysis of Open Banking results - Assess customer affordability and ascertain their creditworthiness
- Assist in training and supporting new joiners, Quality control and feedback
- Review and evaluate credit reports, along with other third-party systems
- Carry out Fraud and AML checks
- Follow underwriting policy and procedures
- Liaise with customers to capture information and document where necessary
- Ability to work independently and take steps to enhance own knowledge when required.
- Provide support to other team members and wider departments
- Work in a queue and strong pipeline management
Who You Are
- Minimum two years’ experience in a credit underwriting environment
- Experience as a Senior underwriter or working towards it
- Able to multitask and work under pressure
- Target-driven with an understanding and desire to achieve our goals
- Experienced in working with near-prime lending, or a start-up environment would be a plus
- Compliant to credit policy and procedures and changes
- The ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment
- Enjoy working as part of a team
