Job Overview

An exciting opportunity to join our Critical Care Outreach Team.

Critical Care Outreach provides cover over 24 hours, 7 days a week. The role offers a rewarding acute experience in the management of the acutely ill and deteriorating patient in the ward environment.

We are looking for an applicant with Critical Care nursing experience who has an interest in critical care outreach /acute illness management.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve direct patient care, supporting staff on the wards with both patient management and education in identifying the deteriorating patient, collection of audits to support the Trust implementation of NICE recommendations for acute illness management and monitoring/implementation of the National Early Warning Score (2) within electronic observations (Eobs). As well as all these functions, there will be a technical requirement to support data collection that allows Trust performance to be monitored and relate directly to outcomes.

Successful candidates will need to be enthusiastic about Outreach, assertive as a clinician with a pro-active approach and a high level of skill in assessment, identification and management of acute illness management and critical care outside of the walls of critical care. The individuals will need to be appropriately confident, be able to work in a challenging environment with a high level of autonomy. The shifts will be based on 12 hours, covering days and nights with some weekend working which requires a flexible approach to rostering.
