We are currently seeking a Training & Competency (T&C) Manager to join our HR and Compliance function and lead the implementation and oversight of our firm-wide T&C framework.
The Role
As T&C Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our team of Investment Managers, Certified Persons, and wider staff remain fully competent, certified, and compliant with FCA requirements — including T&C, SM&CR, SYSC, and FIT. You’ll design and deliver strategic learning programmes, manage SMCR processes, and drive a culture of continuous development across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and oversee the firm's Training & Competency (T&C) scheme
- Ensure Advisers and Investment Managers hold appropriate FCA-recognised qualifications
- Manage all SMCR certification activities, FIT assessments, and re-certification processes
- Maintain CPD logs, Statement of Professional Standards (SPS), and certification records
- Work with professional bodies (CISI, CII, ICAEW) to arrange exams and training
- Lead the delivery of annual appraisals, competency assessments, and CPD events
- Design and implement blended learning solutions across technical, behavioural, and leadership disciplines
- Manage training systems, HRIS updates, and reporting of MI to senior committees
- Oversee onboarding processes including regulatory referencing and role-based induction
- Collaborate with HR and Compliance to maintain regulatory and training records and respond to regulatory change
- Engineer a coaching-based learning culture to support employee development
- Keep abreast of FCA regulatory changes and translate into training and compliance actions
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in a T&C or L&D function within a regulated financial services environment
- Strong understanding of FCA regulatory requirements including SM&CR, SYSC, FIT, T&C, and COBS
- Experience overseeing SMCR certification and compliance processes
- Skilled in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration (HR, Compliance, Line Managers)
- Advanced organisational and communication skills
- Proven track record designing and delivering effective learning interventions
Desirable:
- Level 4 qualified (e.g. CISI Investment Advice Diploma, CII Diploma in Financial Planning)
- Familiarity with LMS and HRIS platforms (e.g., Skillcast, Workday, Cornerstone)
- CIPD, coaching qualification, or similar L&D accreditations
