We are now recruiting for the exciting role of
Verification & Validation Delivery (EC&I) Team Leader.
The Development Engineering organisation is accountable for proving that the Rolls-Royce SMR power station design meets its objectives and requirements. It is also accountable for providing data and evidence to support the development of the power station design and delivery through the execution of tests, demonstration and research and technology programmes. This encompasses not just the domain of nuclear engineering, but the broader range of engineering and operations functions necessary to deliver a major infrastructure project.
The Team Leader is accountable for leading and delivering V&V for one or more aspects of customer project. The Team Leader will be responsible for limited management authority for a small team of Engineers, including setting performance objectives and conducting performance reviews.
Additional role responsibilities:
- Delivery of RR SMR Verification & Validation through comprehensive evidencing of compliance with business & regulatory requirements.
- Integrated planning, definition & delivery of all V&V artefacts for their RR SMR business project area(s) in line with programme cost/quality/schedule requirements.
- Technical oversight of V&V for their RR SMR business project area(s) ensuring the needs of SMR design and safety case are clearly identified and satisfied.
- Budget & Load capacity planning in conjunction with the Capability Manager with a focus on delivering value for money.
Key selection criteria:
Verification and Validation Expertise
- Experience of verification and validation of product, ensuring comprehensive compliance with design, business & regulatory requirements.
- Experience in a safety-critical and highly-regulated industry (experience within the nuclear industry in particular would be desirable but is not essential).
Mentoring and leading of teams to deliver
- The ability to clearly articulate their vision and goals whilst demonstrating positive behaviours that maximise engagement from teams and stakeholders.
Communication and Influence
- Good interpersonal & communication skills, able to bring people together and solve problems as a multi-disciplinary team (e.g. Design & Development).
Systems Engineering
- Has a systems-thinking mindset with practical experience of using Systems Engineering toolsets & techniques to deliver positive outcomes.
Nuclear Safety Culture
- The ability to model strong and positive safety behaviours and to instil it in others, including respectfully challenging others and taking the initiative to build a strong safety culture.
Required qualification:
Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £48,000 - £62,500 DOE plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
- Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.

- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases

Our Application Process
Due to the safety regulations within the nuclear industry, applicants will be required to participate in additional screening. These are:
Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
Satisfactory completion of a basic financial probity check
