Critical Care Ward Clerk - Band 2 (PERMANENT)

Monday - Friday (afternoon or evening hours only) 12 hours per week.

We are excited to welcome an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Critical Care clerical team. This role plays an important part in supporting a reliable Monday to Friday clerical service, tailored to meet the needs of the department.

The successful candidate will bring excellent communication skills and a positive approach, delivering an efficient reception, telephone, and administrative service. We are looking for someone with previous clerical experience, strong organisational skills, and confidence using computer systems.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

• Maths and English qualification - GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1

Desirable

• NVQ 2 in Business & Administration

Communication Skills

Essential

• Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Confident in managing telephone and reception enquiries
• Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Maintains a professional and courteous approach in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge and Training

Essential

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and general IT systems
• Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles
• Commitment to ongoing training and professional development

Desirable

• Working knowledge of Patient Administration/Management Systems

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience within the NHS or a healthcare setting
• Previous administrative or clerical experience in a busy environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Analytical & Judgement Skills

Essential

• Uses initiative and applies sound judgement within the scope of the role

Planning Skills

Essential

• Work shifts patterns to include afternoon and evening hours only

Effectively prioritises workload in a busy clinical environment

Demonstrates strong organisational and time management skills

Essential

• Works independently within established policies, procedures, and processes
• Recognises and escalates issues appropriately to maintain safe and effective service delivery
• Provides informal support or guidance to less experienced staff when required
