Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of French and Spanish looking for a new challenge?
Come and join our team at Outwood Academy Danum!
Outwood Academy Danum is situated in the east of Doncaster with direct bus links from the train station to the school. We are a small MFL department of 3, dedicated to providing engaging lessons to our pupils to instil a love of language learning within them.
You will teach Spanish at KS3 and KS4 with an opportunity to offer it at KS5 also. We are constantly striving to increase the number of pupils opting to study a language at GCSE. Our Spanish and French GCSE results in 2024 were good, both with a positive progress 8 score.
If you are in the early years of your career, we have an ECT mentoring programme which offers you individualised support from a very effective and experienced team. You will receive 1-1 support in all areas of your teaching.
At Outwood Academy Danum you will have your own classroom which you will be encouraged to personalise to create an engaging learning environment for your classes. We also have a separate workspace that we share with Humanities with access to computers.
As a department we offer weekly intervention sessions at KS4 as well as a KS3 ‘culture’ club. New input and ideas are always welcome, thus ensuring that our pupils experience language learning and culture outside the academic classroom.
In the past our pupils have been rewarded with visits from Madame Crêpe and Flamenco workshops as well as watching plays delivered by a Spanish theatre company. We are hoping to increase the number of trips abroad also so our pupils experience using their language skills in authentic settings so this is an aspect you would be encouraged to get involved in.
So if you are interested in joining a dedicated department with a shared passion of language learning and teaching, contact me as Head of Department in the first instance for answers to any questions you may have: Allison Tate
