A licensed sponsor is a UK company that the Home Office has approved to hire workers from outside the UK. To get that licence, the company has to meet government criteria — mostly around the role, the salary, and how they manage compliance.
If you've got an offer from a company that isn't licensed and the role itself is eligible (the gov.uk list is the source of truth), you can ask them to apply. A lot of employers don't realise the option exists until a candidate brings it up.
Most UK companies can't sponsor a visa, even if they want to. They need a Home Office licence, and most don't have one. So the real job search isn't "find a job," it's "find a job at a company that can actually hire you." That's why this site exists.
No. The companies are licensed to sponsor, but the specific role still has to meet the salary threshold and SOC code rules. Some roles at a sponsor qualify, some don't.
Worth saying though: getting in at a licensed sponsor in any suitable role is still useful. Once you're inside and have proved your value, asking about sponsorship for a future move is a much easier conversation than asking a stranger.
No. We're independent. We don't represent the companies, have no commercial relationship with them, and can't speak for them on hiring or sponsorship. Applications always go to the company directly, through the link we provide.
The sponsor list comes straight from the UK government's published register, so "is this company licensed?" is reliable. We match each company to its website and job listings ourselves, and that matching is occasionally wrong.
If you spot a bad match or a stale listing, the "Suggest an edit" button on the company page is the fastest way to flag it.
No. We're not a recruiter, and we can't sponsor anyone. Only the employer can do that.
What we do is list the companies that hold a sponsorship licence and link straight to their job postings. What we don't do is interview, hire, or place candidates — we have no say in hiring decisions.
So the path is the normal one: research the companies, apply through their site, talk to them.
