The Role: Academy Supervisor & Coach
We are looking for someone passionate about developing new to profession Financial Advisers. As part of our growing Academy team you will report in to the Head of Academy. The Academy team consists of other Supervisors as well as Operations, Training, and Recruitment Managers who all work closely together in a vibrant environment to ensure the development of advisers to provide great client outcomes. The role is varied, and as we are growing the Academy your strategic input will also be required.
The Advice Partnership (TAP) is the advice arm of M&G Wealth Advice which is regulated and authorised by the FCA. TAP have established the Wealth Advice Academy programme which is now in its 4th year, which is designed to support the development of individuals who have not given financial advice before, to become financial advisers.
The Supervisor role is to coach, supervise, train and support a team of advisers through to their graduation into TAP. You will conduct client observations, 121s, supervising them to CAS, and then continue to develop them on an ongoing basis until they are ready to graduate into TAP. You may also be asked to support the other managers in their roles from time to time across the Academy to support our Academy goals.
This is an opportunity to use well defined coaching and supervision skills and you will be joining a close knit team, all of whom are focused on making sure that advisers have the ability and confidence to deliver outstanding client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Ensure delivery of advice to reflect regulatory and internal standards.
- Evaluate and monitor collective performance to ensure your team is delivering their own business objectives in a safe and aligned manner to the strategic priorities of the business.
- Ensure all Advisers in the team meet Competence testing deadlines and receive ongoing training & coaching as needed.
- Feedback to TAP Management on areas of development for the Academy programme and T&C scheme requirements.
- Ensure all Advisers are developed to further increase their skills, knowledge and ability to perform to best meet their goals.
- Ensure the key requirements of the business are met; delivery of advice, screening and onboarding of clients.
- Ensure all newly appointed advisers are monitored and managed in respect of regulatory T&C requirements.
- Identify development opportunities and deliver these to ensure Advisers progress through their journey to Competent Adviser Status and through the 2 year Academy programme.
- Liaise with TAP Management, sponsoring Appointed Representatives and other stakeholders to ensure advice policies maximise good client outcomes.
- Use judgement to strengthen our positive risk and control culture, by identifying, assessing and managing risk within your business area
- Take an active lead in helping each person in your team perform to their best and understand how their work contributes to the achievement of business success
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- An effective coach, supervisor and mentor
- Significant experience of front line advice delivery and the management thereof in a mass affluent advisory business
- Experience of managing T&C requirements
- Expert level knowledge of industry best practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals in the same field
- Expert level knowledge of life, pensions & investment products, markets and competitors
- An ability to support advisers in the development of their business and client acquisition skills
- Expert level knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislation frameworks
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent people and time management skills
- Level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Regulated Financial Planning
- Desirable: Chartered status (or equivalent) in Financial Planning or working towards Chartered status.
- UK valid driving license
