Description

We are looking for Assistant Accountant to join the busy team in Brentwood, Essex. As an Assistant Accountant, you will join the Global Finance Function, reporting to the Head Office Financial Controller. You will have experience of working in a Finance department, in either Management or Financial accounts. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to become part of even better and be part of a diverse team!


ABOUT YOU


As the Assistant Accountant, you will be part of the team responsible for a wide range of activities within the Head Office accounting function, therefore the right attitude and a drive for learning are crucial to help maintain the high standards within the Head Office team.


Required skills and experience:


  • University degree in accounting and finance, or equivalent, and looking to start or have started their ACCA/ACA qualification
  • Ability to learn quickly and be willing to take instruction whilst acting autonomously on certain tasks
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft packages
  • Experience with foreign exchange transactions/balance sheet revaluations a bonus
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Integrity to handle sensitive and confidential data
  • Experience in any of the following accounting packages an advantage (though not essential):- IBM Cognos Controller, SUN Accounting and PeopleSoft.


ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY


This role will be working a wide range of activities within the Head Office accounting function; therefore, we are looking for a self-motivated individual who is able work with resilience and at pace.


Key activities:


  • Month-end close process for 3 companies, including accruals and fx revaluations
  • In-month accounting duties to include allocation of cash payments/receipts and book entries for loan settled items
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, to clear open items
  • Intercompany billing raised within agreed time period
  • Accurate accounting for loan, investment and dividend movements in the year
  • Investigating intercompany balance mismatches in all Head Office companies
  • Supporting the year-end and mid-year financial audit • Purchase Ledger:
  • Coding of invoices through SUN system o Processing bank payments and allocating correctly.
  • Preparing month end bank reconciliation/cash book and journal for each entity
