Key Responsibilities – Software Management And Automation Solutions

  • Oversee the technical delivery of software solutions for PLC, SCADA, HMI and digitalisation projects, ensuring best practices and quality standards are met.
  • Cultivate a high-performance and inclusive team culture, focused on learning, mentoring, and collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Act as technical escalation point for complex software engineering and automation challenges
  • Contribute to the creation, review, and enforcement of key technical documentation including control philosophies, design specifications, and change control records.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team, exploring new technologies and approaches to maintain our competitive edge.
  • Support successful project delivery by engaging with clients, stakeholders, and partners to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and support resourcing, training, and recruitment to grow and strengthen the software and automation controls team.

Essential Skills & Experience – Software Manager For Automation Engineering

  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Software Engineering, Automation, Electrical, Controls, or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant experience in developing, delivering, and commissioning industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI), preferably for the water industry, utilities, or process sectors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across engineering, delivery, and client teams.
  • Sound knowledge of automation software development, industrial networks
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project/client sites across Hampshire and the South as needed.
  • Experience implementing change management, software version control, and systems integration best practices.
  • Track record of developing talent and fostering an inclusive, innovative team culture.
  • Experience managing budgets or resources within technical or engineering projects.
