The role of Active Directory Technical Lead is really important to us. You will work as part of a service-focused team to deliver Active Directory services and support to meet the business needs across the Aldermore Group, working closely with the other members of the Information Security, Infrastructure and wider teams across Technology.
We are seeking an experienced Active Directory (AD) Technical Lead, to join our Information Security Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the administration, support of Active Directory across multiple Polycloud and on Premise environments. The AD Technical Lead will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and performance of the AD Infrastructure, while working with cross-functional teams, to meet Business requirements
What will your day look like?
- Active Directory Management - Support the administration of the Active Directory infrastructure and related technologies, resolving incidents, proactively managing problems and providing escalation support. Monitor AD performance, diagnose issues, and perform regular updates and patches to ensure optimal system performance. Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Active Directory environments. In both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructures, plus manage AD schema, trusts, sites, and replication to ensure a stable environment.
- Security and Compliance - Implement and manage security measures for AD environments, including security patches, role-based access controls, and compliance with Aldermore Group’s security policies. Perform routine audits to ensure compliance with internal security policies, as well as external regulatory requirements. Deploy and manage security features such as Privileged Access Management, multi-factor authentication (MFA) and Microsoft Defender for Identity.
- Automation, Scripting, Documentation and Reporting - Develop, maintain scripts and automation tools for Active Directory maintenance and reporting. Automate routine administrative tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Maintain detailed documentation of Active Directory configurations, processes and troubleshooting steps.
- Troubleshooting and Support - Support and administer the Active Directory Infrastructure, related technologies, resolving incidents, proactively managing problems and providing escalation support for complex technical issues. Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve cross-functional issues affecting infrastructure and services. Act as a Consultant for Infrastructure and other Technical Teams ensuring best practices where AD is involved.
- As part of the wider Active Directory team, provide Out Of Hours support and be on-call as required.
- Provide Leadership, Mentorship, and Technical direction to Junior Staff and Team members and be an individual contributor to the assessment of their roles.
What do we expect from you?
- Proven experience in Active Directory Administration, including User and Group Management, GPOs, DNS and Replication.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation
- Experience with AD integrations, including Entra Active Directory, Cloud Sync and Entra Connect.
- Knowledge of security best practices for Active Directory environments.
- Experience with backup and Disaster Recovery solutions for Active Directory including Malware protection.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex AD issues effectively and efficiently.
- Experience with Multi-Forest, Multi-Domain, and Cross-Platform Active Directory environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory Architecture, Replication, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and AD DS (Active Directory Domain Services).
- Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, PowerShell scripting, and automation of AD tasks.
- In-depth understanding of security protocols, access control, and authentication mechanisms (e.g., Kerberos, LDAP, NTLM).
