An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join our Integrated Safeguarding Team. Safeguarding means protecting an adult’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is about people and organisations working together to prevent and address both the risks and experience of abuse or neglect. At the same time making sure that the adult’s wellbeing is promoted, including having regard to their views, wishes, feelings and beliefs in deciding on any action.
About Us
In Plymouth, we have integrated our Adult Social Care and Community Health services, and these are provided by Livewell Southwest CIC. Plymouth City Council has an established team of Social Workers and Community Care Workers who are responsible for delivering these essential functions, which include the statutory duty to safeguard adults from abuse or neglect. Currently our Adult Safeguarding Pathway is being developed to join the Plymouth City Council and Livewell Southwest teams in creating a seamless response for Plymouth Residents.
Our Safeguarding Team has a vacancy for a Social Worker to contribute to delivering our safeguarding duty for the people of Plymouth.

Applicants
We welcome applications from Registered Social Workers who have successfully completed their Assessed and Supervised Year in Employment or have at least 2 years post qualifying experience as a social worker. As part of your role, you will undertake enquiries, assess risk, coordinate safeguarding responses, and triage cases using social work knowledge and skills in line with our statutory duties. You will be able to ensure effective and responsive practice, that acts in accordance with current legislation and guidance, is provided to the people you support who are accessing the service. This will include providing legally literate and professional specialist advice, and guidance to a range of professional and non-professional partners. You will hold a caseload, and chair multi-agency risk management meetings. You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to evidence practice within a safeguarding framework.
