Citi Wealth are seeking an alternative investment specialist to join our EMEA team, focused on private market and hedge fund strategies. The alternative specialist team is responsible for all fund raising activities related to alternative investments, involving extensive engagement with internal and external clients. The team also leads our educational efforts around alternative investments and closely follows latest trends and themes in alternative investments. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate both internally and externally, often at a senior level. Developed collaboration and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others. The successful candidate will be accountable for significant direct business results through providing authoritative advice regarding alternative investments. Alternative Investments include Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate and Hedge Funds.
Responsibilities:
- Educate Bankers and Investment Counselors to increase knowledge and proficiency in the alternative investments product area.
- Act as internal product expert and execute marketing programs to drive net new investment sales within their coverage area. Help develop and manage pipelines for new business opportunities and support after sales servicing.
- Understand and discuss current and historical market conditions across the globe in the context of alternative investments. Communicate complex technical details in a manner that is easily understood and consistent with the level of sophistication of the client or private wealth colleague. Influence a wide range of our private wealth personnel by applying expertise in alternative investments. Help Private Bankers and Investment Counselors to evaluate client profiles in terms of return expectation, risk appetite, time horizon, liquidity needs, etc. and recommend particular Investment products that satisfy the client needs. Present in internal meetings and conference calls on alternative investment product features and benefits, and launch new product offerings.
- Attend client meetings with Bankers and participate in presentations and sales pitches as needed, including travelling across EMEA region.
- Work in close partnership with the Alternative & Investment Manager Solutions (AIMS) team on product management, development and fund raising strategies. Identify product gaps or opportunities and recommend potential alternate products to AIMS team.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience working with alternative investment products
- IAD Level 4 (UK)
- Prior Private Banking experience
- Sales and relationship management skills including a track record of building successful relationships with internal partners and external clients.
- Experience in delivering high quality service to complex individual or institutional clients
- Background in discretionary investment offering preferred
- Self-starter with creative problem-solving skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
