What is the opportunity?
The Financial Crime and Sanctions team of Compliance Department, Europe Office (“CDEO”) conducts monitoring/testing on Mizuho Bank offices in the EMEA region to ensure that compliance risks in the region are properly assessed and controlled in the areas of global AML, Sanctions and Financial Crime, incl. compliance with relevant regulatory regimes. The team also supports the EMEA offices in the implementation and development of policies and procedures of those areas. The team provides subject matter expertise across Transaction Filtering, Transaction Monitoring and AML systems, supporting their use and development across the EMEA Region. CDEO also provide Subject Matter Expertise on UK and EU Sanctions to EMEA region offices, Mizuho Bank Head Office and other regions as required.
What will you be doing?
- Conduct monitoring/testing on EMEA Offices in line with CDEO’s monitoring plan and HO Financial Crimes Compliance Department monitoring program.
- Prepare CDEO’s annual monitoring plan through discussions with team members and HO colleagues.
- Support the implementation and development of MHBK’s Global AML, Sanctions an Financial Crime policies and procedures within the EMEA Region.
- Provide ad-hoc support to EMEA Compliance Teams in managing AML and Financial Crime matters specific to their offices.
- Monitor changes and updates in AML, Financial Crime and Sanctions regulations (including fines, enforcement action and thematic reviews) and their impact on MHBK’s business model and customer base.
- Provide SME support to EMEA Compliance Teams on Transaction Monitoring, Transaction Filtering and Customer Due Diligence systems.
- Respond to ad-hoc sanctions enquiries received from Front Office Departments and/or other departments within the Bank (both from EMEA and globally).
What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent required.
- Experience with UK and EU AML/CDD laws, regulations and practices required
- Experience with compliance monitoring/testing or auditing (especially in AML and Sanctions) is required
- Good presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good analytical skills
- ACAMS, ICA or other recognised AML qualifications desirable
- Experience with transaction filtering systems, transaction monitoring systems and CDD systems desirable (particularly Fircosoft and/or Fenergo)
- Experience with managing Financial Sanctions risks desirable.
