Are you an organised and motivated individual looking for an exciting opportunity to support commissioning and procurement activities within a dynamic local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Commissioning and Procurement Administrator to join our Commissioning and Procurement Service, providing essential administrative support to the Commissioning and Procurement Place and Resources Team.
The Role
Responsibilities
As a Commissioning and Procurement Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for enquiries from internal customers and suppliers regarding commissioning and procurement requests. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing requests for commissioning and procurement support, ensuring accurate information is captured.
- Administering the procurement process, including raising purchase orders and processing invoices.
- Maintaining accurate records and databases, ensuring information is up to date and readily accessible.
- Providing administrative support to commissioning and procurement activities, such as arranging meetings, taking minutes, and preparing reports.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and suppliers to facilitate smooth procurement processes.
In addition to the above, you will also have the opportunity to work with the Contracts Team to administer the contract lifecycle from point of order placement through to contract end.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of procurement processes would be advantageous, but not essential.

Skills
As part of this exciting opportunity, you’ll have the chance to undertake an 18-month Level 3 apprenticeship in either Business Administration or Procurement and Supply, to further develop your skills:
