Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of West Yorkshire Joint Services.
West Yorkshire Archive Service (WYAS) is currently looking to recruit a qualified archivist to work on collections in the service-wide Central Archive Store at Morley, Leeds. The post will include processing public records, box listing collections, cataloguing and de-accessioning.
Based at the HQ site of West Yorkshire Joint Services, where WYAS: Leeds is located, the successful candidate will work closely with the Collections Archivist and under the supervision of the Collections Manager.
Whilst working independently to process uncatalogued collections, the post holder will work in compliance with the WYAS framework of collections management, cataloguing and appraisal policies and procedures, and will liaise with the Collections Manager, Collections Archivist and other archivists, to make appraisal decisions.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate or masters’ qualification in Archives and Records Management (or equivalent), a knowledge of archival cataloguing standards, relevant ICT systems, and other archive cataloguing software, preferably CALM. A knowledge of how local authority archive services operate and of local history would be an advantage. You will possess a level of fitness to enable you to fulfil the physical aspects of the role.
