The Role

Cloudsmith is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the daily financial operations. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting. This role is perfect for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact. Cloudsmith is a fast-paced environment, this role will involve diverse tasks and opportunities to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records by posting and processing journal entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Process customer invoices and payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile vendor invoices and manage expense reports.
  • Monitor customer accounts for timely payments and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile transactions from payment gateways.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency within the accounting processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance financial operations.

Required Experience, Qualities & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Progress toward professional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is a plus.

Experience

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or technology company.
  • Familiarity with subscription billing models and revenue recognition principles is advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intaact, Xero, or NetSuite
  • Skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with SaaS billing platforms (e.g., Chargebee, Zuora).

Soft Skills

  • A team player who can work collaboratively across business units.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
