About The Role
As Assistant General Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining Vivat Bacchus’ reputation as a destination for food and wine lovers. Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll lead the team to deliver outstanding service, foster a positive work culture, and drive operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example to deliver exceptional guest experiences aligned with Vivat Bacchus’ high standards.
- Recruit, train, and mentor team members to nurture talent and excellence.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to achieve and exceed sales targets while driving business growth.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Handle customer queries and challenges professionally, turning them into opportunities to enhance satisfaction.
- Share your passion for wine by assisting guests with pairings and menu selections.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as an Assistant General Manager or in a similar leadership role within a busy hospitality environment.
- A genuine passion for South African cuisine and wine, with knowledge of South African culture being highly valued. (WSET qualifications are a plus but not essential.)
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience in talent development.
- Excellent communication and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced setting.
- A positive, hands-on attitude with attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
