We are looking to recruit a motivated candidate to join our Highways Service as Assistant Highways Technician. The Highways service is continuing to grow and develop, and we are looking for someone who can ensure all work activities are carried out with a focus on improvement, attention to detail and meeting timescales.
In this role, you will work as part of a team focussed on the preparation, design and processing of highway improvement and maintenance projects. This includes carrying out all activities relating to surveys, design, inventory collection, and winter maintenance processes. You will carry out surveys and produce data, as well as providing technical and project advice to colleagues both within the Highways service and wider organisation.
As well as this, you will provide advice on the application of legislation, regulation, and policy to both internal and external customers. The right candidate will be a strong communicator, who can liaise with stakeholders, and will be someone who can work to deadlines while effectively prioritising their workload.
You will be driven, flexible and proactive, ensuring all work is completed to the expected standards. A relevant technical, vocational, or part-professional qualification is essential, as is knowledge of highways maintenance services. Experience of working in a local government environment is desirable.
We are also looking for someone who can adapt well to the demands of the service, who can travel throughout Cumbria and surrounding areas, and who is willing to take part in winter maintenance function or other out of hour’s functions.
This role is available on a permanent basis.
