Job Summary
The assistant psychologist will be a member of the Physical Health Psychology team.
They will work on a specialist project to look at Cancer patients who fail to attend their appointments in the 2 week referral pathway for suspected cancer.
They Will Work With The Data Team To:
- Identify patients who have DNA
- Reach out to patients to understand the barriers to care, which we know to be multifactorial
- Work with the system, in secondary and primary care, to assist the patient to attend
- Analyse data and the outcome of the intervention
They will be supervised by a Clinical psychologist, who can offer input to patients who are struggling with anxiety which prevents attending.
They will also work with the Clinical Psychologist to develop training for staff, in the Investigations team eg Radiography to develop their skills in managing anxious patients.
The posts are funded by the Cancer alliance with a bid to improve access and unmet need.
