This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in a month at 23:59 BST.
The Vacancy
A unique opportunity for a self-directed and motivated individual to join a rapidly growing and challenging healthcare facility that requires a keen understanding and ability to work in a private business, whilst having a deep understanding of NHS systems and processes. This is a position of great responsibility requiring agility to work in a fast-paced organisation, whilst working closely with NHS colleagues
Sulis Hospital Bath is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal United Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, having been acquired in June 2021.
Since the acquisition, Sulis Hospital has seen significant activity and financial growth through its 4 theatres, 2 MRI scanners, Endoscopy Suite, Inpatient and Day-Case services. As a result of NHS investment, more theatres are coming on-line, and further growth expected through 2025/26
The NHS investment in Sulis has introduced a Community Diagnostic Centre (with an additional MRI scanner), now including Physiological Measurements facilities for respiratory, cardiology and sleep services. It has also delivered an additional 2 theatres, 7-day case rooms and Inpatient bed to create the Sulis Orthopaedic Centre, ring-fencing elective surgery for RUH, GWH and SFT
Sulis is ambitious, delivers standards of care expected of a centre of excellence, is driving clinical care in new and innovative ways (recognised both regionally and nationally as exemplary) and will remain a key partner with the NHS whilst growing its proportion of the privately funded market, that is growing in the area.
All profits from Sulis activity is returned to the NHS
Reliance of consistent, informed, proactive, and solid leadership in the new Associate Director of Finance is essential. Working within a Senior Management Team that is committed to delivering, is patient-centred, operationally astute, and financially aware, the successful candidate will enjoy support from SMT as well as a Finance team keen to succeed. Departmental Leads wish to work with an Associate Director of Finance who allows them to manage their departments to the best of their abilities. Experience of the NHS or Independent Sector hospitals is beneficial.
The management of accounts to ensure decision-making is robust and informed; leading a team interacting with all key members of the hospital; contract negotiating and interaction with external stakeholders such as Commissioners; ability to manage capital requests to key accounting standards is essential. Most importantly, the right character willing to get involved with a tight-knit team, support, and develop their own team and share in the success of Sulis.
