We work with leading Insurers, Reinsurers and Brokers to solve their biggest and most complex problems. As part of the Operations Transformation practice at Deloitte, we pride ourselves on our ability to harness our deep industry experience across the insurance value chain to help our clients drive transformational change.

Assignments will be focused across the full spectrum of the Insurance Market be that General Insurance, London Market or International business and will include:

• Building the underwriter or broker of the future, transforming the way our clients assess and manage risk using new ways of working.
• Creating insurance efficiency and automation, including Generative AI, digital tools, automation and more.
• Challenging how insurers and claims handlers should assess losses in an ever evolving space, enabled by technology.
• Delivering complex insurance transformations in the London Market, the General Market or Internationally.
• Re-design the operating model to enable the organisation of achieving strategic ambitions.
• Supporting our clients to shape and address their risk and regulatory agenda.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities to improve the profitability.
• Structure and deliver digital transformation programmes to enable efficiency and growth benefits.

As an Associate Director in our team, you will work closely alongside Partners and Directors and play a key role in influencing and shaping the strategic direction and development of the team, with the opportunity to:

• Develop your leadership capabilities to effectively manage diverse teams, with an inclusive culture where people are recognised for their delivery of client work.
• Leading client engagements and develop strong long-term client relationships as a trusted business advisor in the insurance sector.
• Leverage your Insurance expertise to lead on projects, develop innovative thought leadership and support the growth of our business.
• Play an active role in the recruitment and career development of more junior team members.
• Develop trusted relationships with our clients.
• Actively leading and contributing to the development of the Insurance practice team.
• Learn from the best in the Business and also help recruit the best people, coach and support them whilst driving activity such as proposition development and marketing.

Essentials

• Proven experience within a (re)insurer or insurance brokerage working closely with or in transformation, or a consulting firm with a focus on Insurance engagements or equivalent.
• Subject matter expertise in one or more detailed areas of the UK insurance industry and market, including macro trends (e.g. transformation drivers, regulatory, economic, and business factors or equivalent) or disruptive technologies (e.g. Generative AI, and Digital or equivalent) that are driving change and impacting business models of key institutions.
• Experience of delivering within projects or leading workstreams on transformations such as target operating model design / implementation, process re-engineering or cost reduction.
• Able to articulate complex ideas to all levels of an organisation, and effectively lead and manage all key stakeholders and team members, resolving issues, competing demands and conflicts.
• Excellent ability in Microsoft Office, particularly in Powerpoint and Excel.
• A strong understanding of risk, how to mitigate risk and protect the firm’s reputation.
• An understanding of the diverse requirements of clients and the need to work on projects in differing geographies and time zones.

Desirable Skill Set Examples

• Knowledge of business design and business architecture practices including process re-engineering or cost transformation.
• Experience of delivering complex business and technology transformations in senior roles.
• Experience of working in Agile delivery frameworks, especially in Insurance environments including Scrum.
• Experience and ability to operate and understand Project and Programme management disciplines including production of project plans, key quality programme deliverables and working and delivering to strict time constraints.
