We are seeking a full time Associate Fire Engineer in our London office (working hybrid).
The role involves in providing Fire Safety Consultation and developing Fire Safety Strategy for a variety of projects in Built Environment. This involves using relevant fire safety guidance documents and if required, utilising Fire Engineering methods and tools in designing a performance-based fire strategy in collaboration with the project stakeholders, design team and Approving Authorities

Role and responsibilities:
- Act as a point of contact for Clients providing Fire Safety Engineering services;
- Co-ordinate and manage project teams in delivering Fire Safety Services on time, in budget, to scope and keeps up to date with billing
- Perform as Lead Fire Engineer on projects
- Provide specialised technical input to the project
- Review and sign off work completed by other team members
- Present complex technical solutions to clients
- Develop fee proposals and provide estimates for Fire Safety Services budget and schedule
- Monitor and control the costs, scope and program against the budget, scope, schedule and resources
- Provide guidance to junior fire team members and graduate fire engineers
- Input into the team’s workload resources schedule for budget and resource planning purposes
- Proactively coordinate with other disciplines on project work and through engineering networks
- Communicate effectively with clients, seeks feedback and develops or fosters client relationships
- Support business development and growth of the team
- Support technical development and leadership of the group
- Contribute practical ideas for better working practise and support implementation
The candidate: qualifications, skills & experience:
Qualifications:
- Fire Engineering qualification or a relevant Engineering degree.
- Member of IFE and achieved or working towards achieving CEng.
Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in practicing Fire Engineering in the UK market is required.
Knowledge:
- Good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Fire Safety Engineering such as fire behaviour design, radiation calculations, smoke ventilation system and evacuation parameters applicable for utilising computer modelling tools.
- Relevant experience with knowledge of the CIBSE Guide E, SFPE Handbook, Smoke Control Association guidance documents and British Standards i.e. BS 7974 series is preferred, but knowledge in other standards such as NFPA, IBC is welcomed.
- Sound knowledge of Fire Engineering, building construction (RIBA Stages, contracts), and building services.
- Strong grasp of national and local Fire Safety regulations and construction risk management.
- Experience leading projects across sectors from design to handover
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and presentational skills.
- Strong organisational ability.
- IT literacy with proficiency in the use of a range of design software such as MS Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and BIM.
- A full and detailed knowledge of Fire Engineering, building construction and good understanding of building contracts and appointments.
- Produce written reports in good English and where appropriate use technical language.
- Proficient with financial information.
