Brief Description
This is 6-month secondment (with the potential to become permanent) provides an exciting and challenging development opportunity in the Eastern Routes Capital Programmes - Assurance & P3M Capability Team. The role involves implementing and managing the Assurance model to support the Eastern Routes Capital Programmes operating model.
This is an exciting time to join Eastern Routes Capital Programmes (ERCP) as we progress with our operating model, rising to the challenges the industry has faced following the pandemic. The Assurance & P3M Capability team is playing a key role implementing Assurance processes to support the delivery of projects. We’re passionate about ERCP delivering great service and are challenging ourselves to support the achievement of this in more efficient and effective ways.
Assurance: Project Assurance seeks to provide independent and objective oversight of the likely future performance of projects. Assessing the deliverability of projects to determine whether the project is performing as expected.
P3M (Project, Programme, Portfolio): is the approach we take to the governance and delivery of the range of projects we manage.
This role will appeal to someone who is passionate about shaping the future and improving processes. The right candidate will need to be motivated and a self-starter. With a good understanding of projects and project processes, who is able to understand the workings of projects and assess their deliverability. Possessing excellent data management, analysis and reporting skills. With the ability to analyse and interpret data and information, draw conclusions and provide feedback. Also, able to work collaboratively with the direct team and other departments, be adaptable, embrace change, think outside the box, challenge the norm and turn their hand to a variety of tasks. Supporting the team as it continues to embed and refine Assurance processes
About The Role (External)
Key Accountabilities:
- Implement and manage the P3M Assurance Framework to support project delivery and help improve project outcomes. By providing analysis of delivery confidence, identification of risks, providing insight into compliance to processes and governance.
- Support and manage an Integrated Assurance approach for projects working with functional and project teams. Provide expert support and guidance to the Capital Delivery organisation regarding P3M Assurance. Supporting the functional leadership of the P3M profession.
- Develop and manage the necessary processes, tools, and procedures to support an effective P3M Assurance Framework. Supporting effective P3M Assurance of Eastern Routes Capital Programmes and its supply chain. Engaging with project teams and suppliers supporting their delivery of L1 Assurance and undertaking L2 Assurance activities.
- Manage an effective monitoring, control and reporting system, to enable the analysis and interpretation of project & programme performance data and information. Undertaking insightful analysis to identify underlying causes or systematic issues impacting on project & programme delivery performance.
- Using Assurance activities to identify improvements, risks and opportunities to project delivery. Operate an effective mechanism for the capture and tracking of improvement plans. Provision of P3M Assurance reporting and management information to support decision making.
Job Skills, Experience And Qualifications
Essential Skills :
- Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status.
- Detailed understanding of rail assurance frameworks, and the relevant standards, procedures and corporate governance.
- Relevant experience in the successful management and assurance of projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Quality management tools / techniques and process improvement skills / expertise.
- Experience in tracking and delivering business benefit within a large organisation.
- Ability to analyse data and information, identify and communicate insights clearly and concisely.
- Strong IT skills, experience using variety of recognised systems / software.
- Good communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to develop good working relationships.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of rail management systems
- Understanding of railway operational and contractual practices
- Certified Lead Auditor
