We are currently seeking a passionate individual to join our Automation Solutions team as an Automation Scientist, who will actively drive the growth of our automation platforms.
The Details…
This exciting and challenging role is responsible for developing and introducing new automated workflows, with a focus on ElysION.
This hybrid role, split evenly between lab and desk-based tasks, will involve developing, testing and optimising automated NGS sample preparation protocols, sequencing prepared libraries on our range of sequencing devices and analysing and reporting the results.
What We're Looking For…
In addition to a BSc or equivalent experience in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or other relevant subjects, the applicant will have acquired significant practical laboratory experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact products, by coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, and presenting progress to stakeholders.
Required Skills, Knowledge And Competencies
- Experience with automation, liquid handling or robotic systems
- Experience with scripting/programming e.g. Python, Linux, XML etc
- Experience of basic life science laboratory techniques and equipment e.g. pipetting, normalisation, use of thermocyclers etc
- Understanding of laboratory best practises
- Experience in NGS sample preparation
- DNA extraction methods
- Attention to detail; ensuring precision and accuracy in experiments, data collection, and analysis
- Problem solving and critical thinking
- Analytical skills
- Collaboration
