Description

Nexus Underwriting Ltd is seeking to hire an enthusiastic, analytical and detail orientated Underwriting Technician. The successful applicant will be supporting the Aviation team in writing business for the company, as well as liaising with various other departments in the group and Brokers in the marketplace.


The successful candidate will be delivering high quality administrative support to the underwriting team, i.e. being responsible for managing inboxes, and logging risks, liaising with Brokers on queries, ensuring our underwriting system(s) and document repository are kept up to date and the information is accurate and organised, and other administrative tasks requested by the underwriting team and Directors.

Responsibilites:

  • Processing FON’s/bound risks onto our underwriting system(s);
  • Processing endorsements and MTA’s onto our underwriting system(s), including AP’s, RP’s, amendments to cover/client details and letters of appointment;
  • Accurate input of technical risks on the risk system from the slips;
  • Extract documentation from the IMR (Insurance Market Repository);
  • Advise and administer specialist technical processing matters, including insurance tax application;
  • Liaise with Xchanging and Brokers to assist in premium signing queries;
  • Administration of documentation, including scanning, recording and filing for all risks;
  • Match technical Xchanging messages to the slip and endorsements;
  • Working with Credit Control to chase down aged debt and entering premium credit risks;
  • Support in analysis, preparation and execution of Binder renewals
  • Regular reporting of progress against KPIs
  • Ad hoc duties consistent with the role;
  • Ensure that Nexus Brand and code of conduct is adhered to at all times both within the workplace or at other external events;


Experience:

  • Ideally educated to A level (or equivalent) with strong results in a numeric subject and English considered preferable
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a focus of providing the best possible service
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks within a high pressured environment, including working to tight deadlines to comply with monthly / quarterly annual closing dates
  • High attention to detail in producing a quality output, accurate record keeping
  • Desire to find solutions to problems and keen to learn
  • Ability to build trust by operating with integrity and professionalism
  • Experience in creating strong working relationships
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT literate, must have good working knowledge of main Microsoft Office products and at least one Underwriting system
  • Prior underwriting experience essential ideally 3+ years
