This post is a band 5 speech and language therapist in the specialty areas of general
medicine (including stroke) and health services for the elderly at Barnet General
Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and
treatment of adult patients and maintaining associated records. The post holder will
participate in teaching in the department and for other professionals. The post involves
contributing to research and audit within Speech and Language Therapy and the
specialist area.
You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult inpatients. Main duties of the post holder are:
To assess and treat a caseload of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentations, as an autonomous practitioner, and maintain associated records
To provide a high standard of speech and language therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic inpatients
To develop effective treatment plans based on evidence-based research seeking guidance from senior speech and language therapist when necessary
To participate in CPD using evidence-based practice, audits and published research to inform own practice and take an active role in own professional development
To prioritise own workload and delegate to Support Workers when appropriate
To participate in the bank holiday rota
