About Our Commitment To Diversity And Inclusion
We live by five core values: Lead with Heart, Do New, Pass on the Power, Harness the Mix and Be a Rock. All our work has equality, diversity and inclusion at its very heart, best articulated in “Harness the Mix”. It's about breaking down barriers between our parts and people and unlocking the problem-solving power of our amazing mix of minds. We serve a diverse community, we have a diverse workforce and we are committed to being an inclusive employer.
We work hard to create representation across our workforce and leadership community, we have thriving employee network groups and our learning and development programmes help us lead, model and breathe ways of working that eliminate inequality, inequity, injustice and bias.
As part of this and under our commitments as a Disability Confident Employer, we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate our candidates. There’s space for you to tell us what you need within our application form.
Our Benefits
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Boston Manor House team as an Intern. In this role, you’ll be primarily supporting visitor and operations management, and will have the opportunity to develop skills in different aspects of managing a heritage site. You will be part of the team welcoming the public and gaining opportunities to learn about the day-to-day running of the House. You will work across all teams on site, discovering every element of the House and being supported by a mentor from within the team.
We are recruiting three interns, two on a full-time basis and one on part-time. The two full-time roles will each undertake 360 hours work in total (36 hours per week for 10 weeks). The part-time role will undertake 180 hours work in total (18 hours per week for 10 weeks). The way in which the successful candidates’ working week is arranged is open to discussion with the team. We are also open to remote working when relevant or possible.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
- You will be part of the Boston Manor House team supporting the management of this 401-year-old historic house located in Brentford and owned by the London Borough of Hounslow. The House is a three-storey Grade I listed Jacobean manor situated in Boston Manor Park, which contains a lake and ancient cedar trees. The House received large capital investment including National Lottery Heritage Fund to renovate the site and engage new and wider audiences. It reopened to the public in July 2023 and we are looking to increase public awareness of what is on offer on the site and reach new audiences.
- You will work closely with the Visitor Experience and Learning & Public Programming teams opening the House to visitors and supporting events and activities at the House. You will report to the Historic Houses Volunteer Manager, who manages the volunteering team, interns and university student placements.
