Overview

Teaching Managers are responsible for the overall smooth running of the EFL teaching programme at their ANGLO centre. The main role is to supervise and support a team of Academic Staff, ensuring the safe operation of the academic programme for both students and staff. An overview of the role follows:

  • Manage and train the teaching team and complete timesheets for staff
  • Academic administration such as registers and student reports
  • Make sure the students get the best possible learning experience

Your role & responsibilities

Depending on the size of your centre, some of these tasks may be delegated to a Workshops and Teaching Supervisor (WTS).

  • Reporting to and liaising with the Programme Manager and Head Office
  • Attending the TMs’ Training webinar prior to the centre opening
  • Administering placement tests where necessary
  • Timetabling all classes and assigning teachers appropriately, considering their skills and experience
  • Manage academic expenses at your centre
  • Attending meetings as required by Head Office and the Programme Manager
  • Ensuring compliance of all teaching staff with ANGLO’s academic programmes, policies and Code of Conduct
  • Ensuring all teaching staff have a knowledge of client profiles and needs
  • Thorough monitoring of student attendance and ensuring ANGLO’s attendance procedure is followed at all times
  • Leading teacher meetings and addressing raised issues
  • Supervising the completion of all legal and other necessary documentation such as class registers, lesson plans, student profiles, weekly academic reports, end of course feedback
  • Overseeing the preparation of Trinity GESE and furnishing HO with accurate information for Trinity registrations
  • Leading induction sessions and fortnightly CPD sessions
  • Providing guidance and advice to teaching staff
  • Conducting formal classroom observations, providing written feedback for teachers, and ensuring records are accurate and available to HO
  • Organising the printing of certificates, procuring resources for classrooms and teaching staff, and recording funds spent
  • Organising a certificate ceremony at the completion of each course
  • Reporting to the Programme Manager any relevant incidents or complaints including student or staff discipline
  • Supervising delivery of, and reacting to student online feedback in a timely fashion
  • Promoting professional dress code and behaviour and a team ethos, including punctuality, class hygiene and appropriate communication
  • Arranging teacher cover and teaching classes where necessary
  • Keeping an accurate inventory of all books and materials and ensuring unused items are returned to HO at end of season
  • Timely and accurate completion of electronic pay spreadsheets, after ensuring all staff paper payment forms have been checked for accuracy

Requirements Essential (Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements)

  • You have the right to work in the UK
  • First degree + TEFLQ qualification or equivalent experience (e.g.: DELTA, MA TESOL)
  • Native or near-native English fluency
  • 3 years’ experience teaching under-18s
  • Experience conducting lesson observations and delivering CPD
  • Advanced IT skills, including Excel, Google Drive and classroom technology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to high-quality customer service
  • Ability to work under pressure, strong work ethic and ability to implement change
  • Committed to personal and the team’s professional development
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Positive “can-do” attitude

Desirable

  • Young Learners teaching qualification
  • Management experience in a similar environment
  • Experience in preparing students for Trinity GESE
  • Experience administering Trinity GESE

Benefits HOURS: 87 - 96 hours per 13 or 14-night student programme, based on programme requirements. No overtime payment unless agreed with Head Office.

On some occasions we have to offer 13/14-night 48 hour programmes, in which case hours and remuneration are halved. We will always let you know if this happens.

PAY: £ 1,541.74 - £ 1,701.22 per student programme including holiday pay.
