Building Regulator Principal Designer

Buro Happold is a world-class engineering and consultancy firm, renowned for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across the globe. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Regulator Principal Designer to join our team.

This role is crucial in aligning our practices with the Building Safety Act 2022 and ensuring compliance with all relevant building regulations. The successful candidate will develop and implement procedures and processes for our UK operations, working towards registration with Building Regulator Principal Designer registers.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a Subject Matter Expert in the Building Safety Act 2022, capable of developing best practices to position Buro Happold as a leader in Building Regulator Principal Designer services. Success in this role will involve creating and implementing robust BSA processes to ensure Buro Happold fulfills its Designer and Building Regulator Principal Designer responsibilities. Additionally, enhancing systems will lead to increased project wins.

Key duties

• Develop and implement strategies to ensure all design and construction activities adhere to the Building Safety Act 2022 and relevant building regulations.
• Supervise and coordinate all phases of the design process, ensuring that projects comply with regulatory requirements and are delivered on schedule and within budget.
• Act as the main liaison for clients, offering expert advice and guidance on building safety and compliance issues.
• Perform comprehensive risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance issues and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
• Lead and oversee a team of designers and other professionals, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and are fully competent in their roles.
• Keep precise records and documentation of all design and compliance activities and prepare detailed reports for clients and regulatory authorities.
• Keep abreast of changes in building regulations and industry best practices, continuously refining processes and procedures to improve compliance, safety, and service offerings.

Your Skills And Experience

• Proven experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and building regulations.
• In-depth knowledge of building safety regulations, risk assessment, and compliance strategies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance.
• Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
• A degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field. Professional certification or membership in a relevant professional body is highly desirable.
• CDM 2015 experience/exposure, having undergone relevant CDM competency courses.
