Description

We are looking for a talented Business Development professional to join our Sales and Business Development team. This role involves assisting with relationship management for the Bird and Bird Plus programme. This role will be a unique combination of data-driven marketing and sales, using data to track activity and drive relationship growth while developing client-facing relationship development skills. Reporting to the Head of Markets, this opportunity offers great exposure to global networks and experience working with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have an international outlook and look forward to an exciting opportunity to build relationships across the Bird & Bird network.


Bird & Bird Plus is the firm’s international network of third-party law firms operating in jurisdictions where Bird & Bird doesn’t practice local law. We support our clients in these jurisdictions through our global network of preferred local counsel and 20 regional Steering Groups that regularly work to vet and build local firm relationships. The Plus program has recently been revamped and utilises both a data driven and sales approach to strengthen relationships worldwide, resulting in more opportunities.


You will get great on the job training and experience, as part of our high functioning and experienced Business Development and Sales team. You’ll have the opportunity to build and develop your own international network and use this to leverage workstreams for the firm. You will be eligible for professional training courses offered by our external training partners and our internal Learning and Development team. What you'll do

The main duties and responsibilities for the role are as follows:


• Supporting the planning, execution, and implementation of the MBD plan for the Bird & Bird Plus network.

• Providing support to the Pitch team on multi-jurisdictional Plus pitches, bids and tenders and maintaining specific credentials in Loopio, our pitch and BD content management system.

• Facilitate cross-selling opportunities with other appropriate practice/sector/country teams.

• Leading on the Legal 500 and Chambers submissions for the international steering groups and preparing agendas and presentations for international steering group meetings.

• Supporting key international events and conferences.

• Producing excellent and up-to-date marketing materials (e.g. brochures, flyers, internal communications etc) as well as research on third party law firms, other multipliers, prospects and clients and ensuring effective follow-up takes place.

• Supporting the firm’s mechanisms for tracking, quantifying, and reporting the inbound and outbound revenues associated with our relationships.

• Ensuring that outcomes from initiatives are monitored and pursued effectively.


About you

The successful candidate will have:


• Experience with business development, sales or client account management in a professional environment, including experience in dealing with management and key stakeholders.

• A strong client focus and confidence interacting with clients on a regular basis.

• International interest/outlook/experience

• Enthusiasm about this unique role and working with our team to develop a more sales-focused culture within the BD team.

• Commercial awareness and an interest in hot topics and industry trends.

• Interest in learning about and using innovative legal and client service technology.

• A positive and flexible attitude.

• The motivation to deliver excellence and exceed expectations.

• The ability to deliver against competing priorities, demonstrating strong project management and organisational skills.
