Our Sales Team
The purpose of the Sales Team is to drive growth with our accounting practice partners, both through signing and onboarding new practices and expanding the use of FreeAgent within our existing partners. We have teams that support the following three areas of our customer lifecycle; prospecting, onboarding and expansion. The BDM role primarily focuses on expansion with our practice partners.
The role
We’re on the hunt for an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our Business Development Team within the FreeAgent Accountancy Practice Division. The target market is accountancy firms and this field-based role is primarily focused on winning new deals with accountancy practices, as well as optimising revenue from existing practice clients, in a certain geographic area within our UK market.
This is a full time permanent position, and you will be field-based and work from home ideally located in the London and South East area. There will be regular contact and trips to head office sited at Edinburgh Quay (convenient for Haymarket train station and airport links).
Day to day your role will involve:
- You’ll be increasing directly attributable revenue from both new and existing clients - Creating your own opportunities within the existing partnerships in your territory and continuing the growth of newly signed, onboarded practices providing all clients the high touch market-leading customer experience we provide
- You’ll be in the driving seat! You’ll be effectively managing your own diary, travel and meetings and reporting on your progress, successes and failures in an accurate and timely manner
- You’ll be FreeAgent’s eyes and ears - You’ll report information and insight obtained through win and loss reasons as well as via engagement with accountant customers, to assist in product prioritisation and understanding of the competitive landscape in the market
- You’ll be an ambassador for the FreeAgent product - You’ll confidently and professionally present the FreeAgent software throughout the sales process, keep up with any product updates, and represent FreeAgent at events, exhibitions, etc, as required
Other key responsibilities include: - Achievement of targeted monthly increase in revenue within the Accountancy Practices via:
- Growing and expanding our reach with newly onboarded practices
- Working with our existing practices to increase growth
- Identifying/generating new business opportunities from existing accounts
- Management of onboarding projects, alongside key colleagues, to support practices in continuing to add new clients to the FreeAgent platform
- Build and maintain a sales pipeline to deliver both short-term results, as well as long-term revenue maximisation
- Build and maintain relationships with all clients
- Representing FreeAgent at events, exhibitions, roundtables etc as required
- Accurate and timely project and opportunity reporting
- Accurate and timely maintenance of sales records and notes in Salesforce CRM system
- Attendance at Head Office normally at least once a month for our wider Sales Team Meetings
- Keep informed about issues affecting the industry and competitor information, communicating this to the wider sales team

Ideally you'll have:
- Significant and proven experience in a sales or business development role, ideally selling software into professional services organisations
- Previous experience of solutions-based selling to multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills at all levels (internal and external), verbally and written, with the ability to manage, influence and motivate others
- Proven track record of achieving targets
- Evidence of self-reliance and self-motivation
- Attention to detail, process and follow up
- Appreciation of the technology and legislation-led changes taking place in the accountancy profession and micro-business sector
- A high level of competency in office-based technology for daily teamwork, communication, collaboration and organisation
- Engaging and skilful presentation delivery
- A full driving licence

Work pattern for this role
This is a permanent, full-time role (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

Annual starting salary of £38,500 - £45,000 per annum depending on experience, with room to progress to £48,500 within the band.
Due to the geographical location of this role there may be an additional London weighting allowance of 20%, depending on where the successful candidate resides.
The role also comes with a car allowance of £6,600 and a competitive uncapped commission package.
