Columbia Threadneedle Investments has established the Data Group function as a global enterprise team to deliver the firm’s data strategy to enable growth, efficiency and scale supporting our ambitions to deliver even greater value to our clients.

As part of this, we have established a Strategy and Data Office within the Data Group to manage our ongoing roadmap for Data Delivery across the firm, driving our strategy and planning alongside the broader business strategy across Investments, Distribution, Operations, Finance Compliance working with partners in Technology and Global Transformation & Change. The Data Office will be responsible for setting enterprise data standards and practice around governance, quality and adoption, as well as developing the short, medium and long term data strategy

This role will report into the Head of Data Strategy, supporting the business management and running of the Data Office and including documentation of the strategy, roadmap, Data Group operating model, implementing tooling to support planning and knowledge management

How you'll spend your time...

Internal business management for Data Group (c.50% of the role):

Enhance and run Business Management MI reporting on a monthly basis covering Run the Business and Change.

Support design and development of KPI dashboard working with team leaders, Production Support and Automation team. This feeds into board and business reporting as well as enabling us to monitor performance of Enterprise Data Services. Includes but not limited to new data setup vs SLAs, capacity planning across BAU and change, analytics (consumption, data quality, exception management, market data consumption and cost metrics)

Produce ongoing Risk and Control reporting including KRIs, monitoring periodic control reviews and delivery against compliance and audit thematic reviews highlighting key areas to leadership for awareness and escalation

Develop capacity planning MI feeding into relevant prioritisation forums across the business and Global Transformation and Change

Manage internal and external written communications including organisation updates, townhall content, Data Group newsletters, progress highlights for board reports, intranet presence

Develop knowledge management repository covering org charts, process documentation, project deliverables ensuring effective channels for collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team

Project manage BAU continuous improvement initiatives, working with our onshore and offshore team in India to identify opportunities, size and deliver changes leveraging automation capability within the team where appropriate

Strategy & Planning support activity (c.50% of the role):

Support the Head of Strategy with documentation and maintenance of the medium to long term strategy building out from the 2025 Data Programme to articulate the firmwide priorities for Data over the next few years and a high level roadmap to achieve this. This will include alignment with the Technology / Platform Strategy and Architecture as well as Business Strategies across Investments, Distribution, Global Operations, Product, Compliance, Risk and Finance, running quarterly sessions to consolidate business needs.

Support the development and maintenance of the Data Group Service Catalogue and Operating Model as we deliver Data Foundations. Support the translation of this into skills and maturity, informing the ongoing Data Roadmap by identifying initiatives to optimise.

Support the running of associated strategy forums such as the Data Steering Committee, developing materials such as the overall strategy, future roadmap priorities, goals and outcomes

Analysis and gathering of market research and intelligence on the maturity of our Data Capability and roadmap relative to the asset management market, leveraging industry events and roundtables, and working with Technology and strategic partners to continually evolve our Data Blueprint for the firm

Lead development of training material and communications for the firm on Data Group Services, Strategic Data Platform (as built via Data Foundations) and Data Policies and Standards, ensuring adoption of strategic sources through education and awareness.

To be successful in this role you will have...

Experience in data and prior experience within a Strategy and / or Data Office role is desirable

Experience and understanding of the asset management industry and the data domains within an asset manager to land quickly with a base level business understanding, supporting relationship development with key stakeholders

Experience in developing business case complete with financial cost / benefit analysis

Excellent communication and presentation skills – verbal and written, with strong ability to develop key messages and narrative on topics and produce high quality reports and presentations. Confidence in presenting KPIs and key messages to the senior management

Strong level of competency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word

Strong attention to detail and high standards for quality, relating to development of policy documentation and standards

Results driven, proactive, self starter and goal orientated. A structured, independent thinker and highly organised with the ability to multi-task and balance a variety of responsibilities, knowing when to escalate and seek guidance on prioritisation

Strong collaboration skills and ability to build good relationships both within Data Group, and with Technology, Risk, Audit, and key Business stakeholders

Digital savviness desirable, to proactively consider ideas for improvement, data visualisation needs from a user perspective and a focus on analytics as it relates to KPIs and KRIs
