Role Responsibility
Here at Kent County Council’s Public Transport team, we do some challenging, varied and rewarding work, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our services. That’s where you come in. Joining the largest County Council in the UK, you’ll help every child and adult on their journey – and continue your own.
The Public Transport department is responsible for the provision of a huge range of client transport services and associated activities across the County; we support the local public transport network, coordinate concessionary fares schemes and contract with local transport providers to provide bespoke transport services for the Council’s clients.
We organise transport for over twelve thousand clients and manage around three thousand individual contracts. On top of that, over twenty five thousand young people make use of our concessionary fares scheme, with around a quarter of a million older and disabled people accessing our adult concessionary travel scheme.
Our Business Team manages payments to transport providers, checking invoices and ensuring the Council’s money is spent correctly amongst a wide range of other tasks. The team offers excellent opportunities for development and, to succeed, you’ll be organised, passionate about supporting the people of Kent, and have a sound understanding of the Council’s role regarding passenger transport. You’ll be confident, professional and assertive when talking to different people from a range of backgrounds, even in challenging situations. Plus, you’ll be self-motivated, able to work well within a busy environment in the office or from home, and enjoy the freedom of managing your own workload.
In return, you’ll enjoy an excellent work-life balance, have access to great rewards via our exclusive schemes and have the opportunity to be part of a range of work-based groups.
We actively promote a diverse and inclusive work culture where our people are our biggest asset, and we’re progressive and flexible in our approach to work, with people working part office based and partly from home, and we’ll provide you with all the support and training you’ll need to succeed.
