Description
Wood Thilsted is a purpose-driven company, delivering engineering consultancy services to speed the global energy transition and to deliver well-being to our employees. We have been consistently successful in attracting the most competent and experienced design specialists, passionate to work in the global wind industry. We operate globally, supporting projects located in Asia, North America and Northern Europe. We currently employ a staff of over 180, most based in the UK and Denmark but also in offices in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and the USA with continued growth foreseen in the near future.

As a company, WT strives to optimise offshore wind farms to limit their carbon emissions through better and greener design. Through excellent engineering, we provide the best overall value to our clients' projects and support our clients with their decarbonisation objectives. We also aim to have a strong culture based on mutual trust, honesty, knowledge sharing, and a good social atmosphere. Due to the success and growth of the company, we are searching for an ambitious and capable Junior CAD Technician to join our CAD team in the Secondary Structures department.

We have several large, detailed design projects in offshore wind, as well as a continuous stream of concept and FEED studies, plus design work on several innovative concepts (outside of the currently accepted foundation concepts for offshore wind), including floating structures.

Areas of responsibility: As one of our CAD technicians for Secondary Structures, your main objective will be to support and provide high-quality CAD deliveries to our clients for Secondary Structures design of wind turbine foundations on projects in the offshore wind industry. In the role you will support the production of drawings and models by:

  • Building and compiling complex 3D models using Autodesk Inventor
  • Transform conceptual ideas into 3D models and 2D drawings in collaboration with design engineers
  • Support the project organisation and client with 3D visualisations and drawings
  • Ensure the quality of final drawings before they are sent to the client

Whilst your focus will be supporting the CAD team for the Secondary Structures, we believe that you’ll work best and will stay engaged if you get involved in multiple areas of our projects.

This is an opportunity for someone looking to develop and progress through continuous professional development and training within the company, with the aim of progressing into a more senior CAD position.

The opening applies to one of our offices in the United Kingdom. A preference is for the candidate to be located in the Bristol office. You should expect some travelling in Northern Europe in relation to your work.

Your background: You will have a background as a CAD technician, or education within the field.

You will have a strong drive and take initiative and responsibility for your assignments and get motivated by creating excellent CAD documentation through teamwork. It is essential that you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise colleagues and other consultants effectively. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have:

  • At least 2 years of relevant employment experience as a CAD technician
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, and preferred but not essential, Autodesk Vault
  • Demonstrated experience with producing engineering drawings and complex 3D models
  • Attention to detail and comfortable with the full Microsoft suit

In return, we offer excellent opportunities and a chance to deepen your competency and expertise. You’ll be continually involved in exciting and dynamic projects, in an inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves—and be their best. We offer a competitive salary package, a great pension, both health and life insurance, as well as flexibility around where you work and when. Our values are at the heart of everything we do. We are result-orientated, innovation-driven, and committed to a brighter future.

Please apply at careers site, where you can upload your CV and enter your details for consideration. Attaching a cover letter to your application is not needed. Instead, include a few sentences in your resume/CV briefly explaining your motivation for applying. To maintain a fair recruitment process, please do not add a photo to your CV.

We are dedicated to an inclusive hiring process and providing equal opportunities for all our job candidates. We are happy to accommodate any adjustments you may need during the application and hiring process. While this job opening does not have a fixed deadline, please make sure that you apply as soon as possible. We are going to close the application as soon as we get enough candidates.

At Wood Thilsted, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment where you feel you belong. We believe that diversity drives excellence and makes us stronger. We are committed to building a culture of inclusion where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents. We strive to create a workplace that is free from discrimination and bias, where all employees have equal opportunities for growth and advancement.
